  Hi everyone
Posted by: Scifiguy - 11-28-2025, 03:57 PM - Forum: Member Introductions - Replies (1)

I am the Scifi Guy, I am from a small little town in Virginia, we have a stop light and that is about it. I have been making models only for about five years. I am 48 and married for 24 years. No kids to share my passion with. But I love Star Wars, Star Trek, Space 1999, Doctor WHO, Babylon 5 and am a massive Apollo history buff.

I hope this place does well, I already like it.

  Welcome to The Maker Forum
Posted by: FalconFX Studio - 11-28-2025, 03:51 PM - Forum: Member Introductions - Replies (1)

Hello everyone, I am creator of this forum, and operate the FalconFX Youtube channel. Also soon an online store that caters to makers, model makers and prop makers. I bit about me.

I have been building models since I was 10 years old. I gravitated towards more technical models, then into props about 15 years ago. I am a huge lover of making things. I do everything from Scifi to Military or Fantasy and more. I really love to help others, and hope everyone gets a lot from this web forum.

My plan is to be welcoming, give members a space to talk, share and sell. I am a lover of free speech, and I just ask to keep it civil. If anyone has any problems just drop me a PM here or an email at falconfxstudio@gmail.com and I will be happy to help as much as possible.

Cheers!

  Best printer for newbie
Posted by: Scifiguy - 11-28-2025, 03:38 PM - Forum: 3D Printing Stuff - No Replies

I am new to the idea of 3D printing but want to learn. What is the best printer to get if I want to make things, but also has a short learning curve. I have read there are ones called Bambu's? and Enders? But when I look there are so many kinds of machines, I am not sure where to go with them.

Also, is resin printing better and more simple? It seems to be. But again I know NOTHING AT ALL about 3D printing. Any help would be great.

  Whoo Hoo New Place
Posted by: Scifiguy - 11-28-2025, 03:35 PM - Forum: General Scifi Model & Prop Chat - Replies (1)

Glad to see a new place to talk models and things Scifi. I am a huge lover of anything scifi and make a ton of models. I really want to one day make a big scale enterprise or maybe even a larger Millennium Falcon.  Big Grin

I mainly make smaller stuff like 1/72 scale Star Wars, also figures. I know this place is new but if anyone else sees this what do you make?

  Home Depot R2-D2
Posted by: FalconFX Studio - 11-28-2025, 03:18 PM - Forum: Droid & Robot Talk - Replies (2)

So who in here is making a Home Depot R2-D2 better with modifications? I just completed one, added a front hologram and a back data port, filled the legs with foam for stability, added neck stabilizer, hose mounts, and a lot more.

Please share your thoughts and experiences about yours?

  Sales Posts Rules
Posted by: FalconFX Studio - 11-28-2025, 03:19 AM - Forum: Rules For Selling - No Replies

The following are when you are placing your items for sale. Please read these rules carefully as they are enforced. We do not want sales posts to clog the forums, so we have the "Prop and Model Shop" on this site below for your sales ads. However, please read the following rules.

IN ORDER TO POST IN THE PROP & MODEL SHOP SELLING ANYTHING, YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE AT LEAST 25 NORMAL POST. THIS IS TO ENSURE THAT WE DO NOT HAVE PEOPLE JUST JOINING AND SPAMMING THE FORUMS.

THE PROP AND MODEL SHOP RULES:

  1. Before posting your sales ads, be a member who contributes to the site. You will have to have 25 posts to post sales ads in the Model & Prop Shop.
  2. Please NO Ebay ads, those will be removed. Place original ads.
  3. No links to any Facebook ads or Facebook pages or groups.
  4. Exercise caution when paying someone for something. We suggest PayPal or some other site where you are protected.
  5. If you think you are ripped off let us know, we are happy to help as much as we can.
  6. All sales, deals, trades are between YOU and the other person. The Maker Forum does not endorse any seller, trader or buyer.

We also suggest when dealing with someone, ask for images. If the images look wonky or "off" ask for images with a note next to the images with the date on it. We pretty much just suggest that if you really have the item you will be happy to send pics as needed, especially for high end items.

But if you are having problems with a seller or trader, please notify a mod or an admin. We won't tolerate scurvy dealers in here.

Rules for posting and being a member
Posted by: FalconFX Studio - 11-28-2025, 03:05 AM - Forum: General conduct rules - No Replies

First thanks for joining The Maker Forum. This site is dedicated to all things prop making, model making, droid making, 3D printing etc. Pretty much if your are creating it we are the place to post etc. We have a few basic rules for everyone to follow, the rules are pretty simple. We want this to be a place to be positive, learn and help others. Plus of course sharing and bragging a bit about your work.

THE BASIC RULES:

  1. Please no threatening or harassing other members.
  2. Please no nudity etc in any posts. This is for prop and model makers.
  3. Please respect others, yes I love Star Wars, however people have a right to say they do not.
  4. Please no racism, political attacks etc. This is not a place for that.
  5. Please no Religion, Politics, and Social Issues are to be discussed, this is just not the place. (See 3 above)
  6. No spamming with your ebay ads, etc. There is a forum for sales posts, and that specific forum section has it's own rules for posting.
  7. Finally, just don't be a jerk.

Other than that, please enjoy, post, discuss and have fun.
